DO YOU REALLY WANT TO START FRESH? HERE’S 5 EASY STEPS TO FREEDOM:
The general procedure for filing a Divorce is as follows:
1. Plan to spend about an hour filling out your Information Worksheet. Click here to get a FREE DIVORCE WORKSHEET.
It will pop up in a separate window so print if off to fill out at your leisure.
A. Get any information together about your debts from the marriage that you or your spouse are presently paying.
B. You may want to get a copy of a pay stub so you can accurately state your income and the spouse’s income if you
can’t remember those figures off the top of your head. (This is particularly important if you have children of the
marriage because the Court may use some of this information to help establish child support, and, Yes, you can ask
the Court to set child support at a mutually agreed upon figure if you have both agreed to that certain dollar figure.)
If you have no children of the marriage, then, you still show your incomes for the Court even though they won’t need
to set any child support. NOW: Sit down and fill out the Divorce Information Worksheet that we’ve provided on this
web site.
2. Mail us the information on your FREE DIVORCE WORKSHEET with your MONEY ORDER for the type service you need,
in the Amount Listed on our INTERNET PRICING FOR AVAILABLE FLORIDA SERVICES: This will print out with your
worksheet.
Mail it to: ABLS Services, 555 BLANDING BLVD., SUITE F, Orange Park, FL 32073. A complete Price Listing of Our
Available Services with the pricing for each type situation will print out with your FREE DIVORCE WORKSHEET.
3. We will carefully review your information and immediately prepare your Divorce documents and return them to you
via US Priority Mail with complete filing instructions and any other information you may need that fits your particular
case requirements.
4. You will sign the documents where indicated and take them - or mail them to the Clerk of the Court in the County in
which you or your spouse reside. ( We’ll include both the street address and mailing address for your convenience.)
Documents are usually prepared for filing in the County in which the Petitioner ( the party asking for the divorce )
resides unless you tell us to prepare them for filing in the County in which the other spouse (The Respondent) lives
if that County is different from the County in which you live. You will need to pay the clerk a small filing fee at the time
you file your case and you’ll be given a Case No.
5. After you file your case, you and your spouse will each get a notice in the mail to attend a brief meeting (it‘s called
a hearing). However, if this is an Uncontested Divorce, in FLORIDA only the Petitioner has to attend. You may verify
with your Court Clerk when you file if the Respondent/Defendant can be excused from the hearing or appear by
telephone if they are in another location or do not want to attend.
You’ll probably need to present a Picture I.D. and maybe your social security card to prove your identity and you may have to answer a couple of simple questions. Some of our former clients have said that usually just stating your name and answering “yes or no” to a couple of simple questions was all that was involved and their divorce was granted.
